چکیده

We provide a systematic derivation of the scaling behaviour of various quantities and, in particular, establish the scale invariance of the ionization probability. We discuss the gauge invariance of the scaling properties and the manner in which they can be exploited as a consistency check in explicit analytical expressions, in perturbation theory, in the Kramers–Henneberger and Floquet approximations, in upper and lower bound estimates and fully numerical solutions of the time dependent Schrödinger equation. The scaling invariance leads to a differential equation which has to be satisfied by the ionization probability and which yields an alternative criterion for the existence of atomic bound state stabilization.

1 6 D ec 1 99 9 Stabilization not for certain and the usefulness of bounds

Stabilization is still a somewhat controversial issue concerning its very existence and also the precise conditions for its occurrence. The key quantity to settle these questions is the ionization probability, for which hitherto no computational method exists which is entirely agreed upon. It is therefore very useful to provide various consistency criteria which have to be satisfied by this qua...

Ionization suppression of excited atomic states beyond the stabilization regime

A two-dimensional model atom is employed to study the ionization behavior of initially excited atomic states in highly-frequent intense laser pulses beyond the dipole approximation. An additional regime of ionization suppression is found at laser intensities where the stabilization effect is expected to break down. The appearance of this effect is due to a strong coupling of the initial wave fu...

Implicational Scaling of Reading Comprehension Construct: Is it Deterministic or Probabilistic?

In English as a Second Language Teaching and Testing situations, it is common to infer about learners’ reading ability based on his or her total score on a reading test. This assumes the unidimensional and reproducible nature of reading items. However, few researches have been conducted to probe the issue through psychometric analyses. In the present study, the IELTS exemplar module C (1994) wa...

Design of Observer-based H∞ Controller for Robust Stabilization of Networked Systems Using Switched Lyapunov Functions

In this paper, H∞ controller is synthesized for networked systems subject to random transmission delays with known upper bound and different occurrence probabilities in the both of feedback (sensor to controller) and forward (controller to actuator) channels. A remote observer is employed to improve the performance of the system by computing non-delayed estimates of the sates. The closed-loop s...

The effects of classical resonance islands in time-dependent quantum mechanics

We investigate the effect of the main classical resonance island on the quantal ionization probabilities for an excited one-dimensional hydrogen atom perturbed by a near resonant, periodic electric field. The classical and quantal ionization probabilities produced by a periodic electric field near the (1:1)-resonance show similarities and also remarkable differences; specifically both probabili...
